Where You Find Out I Have The Reading Habits of a 15 (12) Year Old.
Categories: Uncategorized

I love to read. Always have. When I was little I used to set up a fake “library” in my bedroom and be a librarian, checking out books and reshelving them. I very rarely had patrons, but this didn’t stop me. I was also the kid that would fake go to sleep and then try to sneakily turn a light on and read under my covers. Fast forward to age 14, and I was actually volunteering at a real life library as part of my volunteer work for my Confirmation.

I am constantly blowing through books, and have often been accused of just “skimming” or not actually reading the whole book. So not true. I’ve never been that person that relishes every page, hoping it won’t ever end (there is one exception, which we will get to). In fact, I tend to want to know the ending so badly I have a hard time not skipping ahead just to find out.

Although I love to read, I will admit that my taste might not exactly run toward the quality book department. My reading backlog tends to look something like this:

Embarrassing, but true. I am currently re-reading the HP series for the trillionth time. Yes, I am 21. Stop with the judging.

The other day on the T I saw a woman with Harry Potter 1, and without thinking asked her if she was rereading them too. Nope, this was her first time. Apparently my mind cannot comprehend anyone not having read a Harry Potter book.

Anyways. My love of reading often means I’ll jot down notes to myself on any available surface. Then I lose the paper scraps, and can never remember what I want to read. In comes Shelfari, one of my favorite sites. Basically, it gives you a “bookshelf” which you can use to keep track of all the books you want to read, books you’re currently reading, and books you’ve read. It even has a shelf to add the names of all the books you own or may have lent out. Basically, much awesomeness.

There’s also options to review the books, but I tend to disregard anything that tries to make me do extra work when this novel reading I’m doing is clearly a leisure activity and hey, I’m not in 4th grade anymore so book reports just aren’t going to happen. If you want a review, go to Amazon.

Here is a bit of my current shelf:

Let me know if you’ve tried Shelfari and like it. And remember, if you don’t have anything nice to say (about my reading habits), don’t say anything about the fact that I’m totally going to Harry Potter Wizarding World to drink butterbeer as soon as it opens.

Blog soon.
